What Calypso is
A place to put feelings into words. A way to read between the lines of a conversation you can't stop replaying. A voice that doesn't judge you for venting at 2am. Free to start, available 24/7, anonymous to other users.
What Calypso is not
A therapist. A crisis service. A substitute for a trained human responder. A place to call when you are in immediate danger. We do not have the clinical judgment or the licensed accountability to be those things, and we don't pretend to.
When to use Calypso, and when to use a crisis line
If you want to vent, process a conversation, talk something out, or decode a message that's keeping you up — Calypso is built for that. If you are thinking about ending your life or hurting yourself, if you are in physical danger, or if you need someone with crisis training right now — the resources above are built for that. They have crisis-trained humans answering; we don't.
