PRIVACY

Your conversations,
your privacy.

A plain-language summary of how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Calypso. The full Privacy Policy at /privacy is the document that governs — this page exists to make it readable.

This is a plain-language summary of our full Privacy Policy, which you can read at /privacy. Where the two differ, the full policy governs.

— what we promise

Eight things, plainly.

Calypso is for adults.

You must be 18 or older to use Calypso, everywhere. We ask your age when you sign up, we don't knowingly accept anyone under 18, and if we learn an account belongs to a minor we close it and delete its data. If you believe a minor has signed up, email privacy@trycalypso.ai.

Calypso is an AI, not a human, and not therapy.

Every Calypso voice is artificial intelligence. Calypso is not a therapist, not medical care, and not a crisis service. If a conversation suggests you may be in crisis, Calypso will point you to real humans: the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and the Crisis Text Line. How we do that is published on our Safety page.

We collect only what we need.

Your account, your conversations, your usage of the product, your billing information if you subscribe, and as little else as we can. We don't ask for your government ID, your phone contacts, or your social network.

Your conversations are private to you, and treated as sensitive.

Conversations with Calypso voices are tied to your account and are not visible to other users. Because what you share here can be personal, we treat all conversation content as sensitive data no matter where you live, and we use it only to run the service for you. Incognito mode does not save conversations at all. When an incognito thread closes, it's gone.

We do not sell your data, ever.

Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone. We do not share your personal information for advertising, we run no ad pixels or third-party trackers, and we honour the Global Privacy Control signal.

We do not train our AI on your conversations by default.

We will only use your conversation content to improve our AI models if you have explicitly opted in. The opt-in is off by default, and you can change your mind any time.

We share only with the providers we need to run Calypso.

A small set of vetted service providers help us host the app, run AI inference, process payments, and send transactional emails. Each is bound by a written contract that limits their use of your data to providing the service to us. We may also disclose information when legally required.

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data.

From your account settings, or by emailing privacy@trycalypso.ai. We aim to respond promptly to every request, you can appeal if we ever refuse, and you do not lose access to Calypso for exercising any of these rights.

We protect your data with standard security practices.

Traffic between your device and Calypso is encrypted in transit. Conversation content and account data are protected at rest. Staff access is limited and logged. If a meaningful breach ever affects you, we will notify you as required by law.

Who this page is from

This summary is from the team that builds Calypso ("we," "us," "our"), operated by Calypso AI. The full Privacy Policy at /privacy identifies our operating entity, our legal bases for each use, and your rights by jurisdiction. The contact information at the bottom of this page reaches us with any privacy question.

What we collect, in plain language

Information you give us: your email address, a password (stored as a salted hash, never in plaintext), your confirmation that you're 18 or older, your display name if you set one, and any optional profile information you choose to add (such as birth details for the synastry feature).

The conversations and screenshots you share with Calypso: the text of your chats and the files you drop into the Decode feature, along with the metadata associated with them (timestamps, thread titles you set, voices used).

Information that is collected automatically: your IP address and browser type, basic device information, which pages and features you use, and error or performance signals. We do not collect precise location or contacts from your phone.

Billing information if you subscribe, handled by our payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our systems.

What we use it for

To run Calypso for you: authenticate you, render your conversations, generate decode and chat responses, deliver synastry reads if you've opted in.

To keep Calypso healthy: diagnose bugs, prevent abuse, secure accounts, comply with the law.

To communicate with you about your account: sign-in confirmations, password resets, billing receipts, security alerts. We do not send marketing email by default.

To improve the product: using aggregated, anonymized usage data (not conversation contents) so we can understand which features are useful and which are confusing.

To support safety: automated detection of language patterns that suggest a user may be in crisis, so we can surface the in-product Crisis Banner with referrals to crisis resources like the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. No human reads your conversation unless you flag it or it is reported. Our safety protocol is published on the Safety page.

Health-related information

Calypso is an emotional-support product, so what you write may reveal how you're feeling. Some states, including Washington and Nevada, treat that kind of information as consumer health data with extra protections. We apply those protections to everyone: we use conversation content only to provide the service you asked for, anything beyond that requires your separate opt-in, and we never sell it or use it for advertising. Washington and Nevada residents can find the dedicated Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy linked in the footer.

Cookies and similar technologies

Calypso uses cookies and similar storage for three things: keeping you signed in and remembering your privacy choices (these are strictly necessary); remembering preferences like your selected voice or theme (these are functional, and you can disable them in your settings); and anonymous usage analytics, which respect the Global Privacy Control signal. We do not use cookies for advertising. We do not use cookies to track you across third-party websites.

Your rights, in short

You can access a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that's wrong, export your conversation history, delete individual threads or your whole account, and withdraw consent for anything we processed based on consent (such as the optional AI-training opt-in).

If you are in the US, every state privacy law in effect, from California's CCPA to the newest 2026 laws, gives you rights substantially like these, and we honour them for all users regardless of state. If you are in Canada, the EU, or the UK, you have equivalent rights under PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25, and the GDPR. The full Privacy Policy sets them out by jurisdiction.

Exercise any of these rights by emailing privacy@trycalypso.ai. We will not discriminate against you for using them, and if we refuse a request you can appeal.

For our Canadian users

Your information is stored and processed in the United States, where it is subject to US law. Our privacy officer is reachable at privacy@trycalypso.ai. Quebec users have the additional rights Law 25 provides, including data portability. If you have a concern we can't resolve, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.

No minors

Calypso is intended solely for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not market Calypso to minors. If you believe a minor has signed up for Calypso, please email privacy@trycalypso.ai and we will close the account and delete its associated data.

Changes to this summary

We may update this page from time to time. When we make a material change to the underlying Privacy Policy, we will update the date on both pages and notify account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
